Nathan Fillion

Nathan Fillion was born on March 27, 1971 in Edmonton, Canada. He is the youngest son of retired English teacher, and his only brother's name is Jeff. He attended high school at Holy Trinity Catholic high school, and attended Concordia University College of Alberta and the University of Alberta, where he was a member of the Kappa Alpha Society. 
His breakthrough role was in the soap opera "One Life to Live," where he played Joey Buchanan from 1994 to 1997, which earned her a nomination for Daytime Emmy for Outstanding Younger Actor in a Drama Series. After leaving the soap, Fillion moved from New York to Los Angeles and landed the James Frederick "The Minnesota" Ryan role in the movie "Saving Private Ryan," Steven Spielberg. He also participated in the final episodes of "Buffy the Vampire Slayer" series, where he met the producer Joss Whedon, who cast him in the leading role in "Firefly" series. Even having only lasted 14 episodes (of which only 11 were aired on Fox, and the remaining 3 had just come out on DVD), "Firely" became a big rage among fans of science fiction - so much so that three years after its cancellation, the movie "Serenity" was released, ending the story began to be told in the series. In 2007, Nathan'm reprized role on "One Life to Live", in celebration of 10,000 chapters of the novel. In "Castle," Fillion plays the best-selling author of the title. 
Fillion in 2007 founded the organization Kids Need to Read with author PJ Haarsma with which donates books to libraries without funds, in order to inspire the imagination of children.
